Effects of Listening to Quran Recitation and Nature Sounds on Preoperative Anxiety Among Patients Undergoing Surgery

This study aimed to compare the effectiveness between listening Quran and nature sounds on preoperative anxiety physiological parameters. Using systematic random sampling, a randomized controlled trial was conducted among 81 patients, which comprised of male female patients allocated into three equal groups, that is, recitation group, control group. Preoperative state measured using State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (Embong, 2018), parameters were recorded before after intervention. After intervention, analysis within-subjects showed significant improvement in heart rate, respiratory anxiety. However, post-hoc test reduction mean scores all groups only factor. Paired level group has comparison group; whereas there nonsignificant difference other paired when compared both intervened The result concluded either or effective reducing anxiety, however head-to-head found no difference.
